TSC Sketch Film Competition Recipients and Presenters
Toronto Sketch Comedy announced the winners of the 7th TSC Sketch Film Competition at the Rivoli on November 30. First place, with a $500 cash prize, went to The Drake Sisters by Rebecca Swannick. Second Place went to Noodles by MK Morris (Yes, Let's! Media), with Only Fans by Tommy Marshall in third. Additional awards were also given:
Best Performance: Maddy Foley in I’m Here
People’s Choice: Dividends and Whatnot by Rat Pack Productions
Wackiest Character: Ian Stewart in Vampires Girlfriend
The 36th Annual Saskatchewan Country Music Awards took place on November 30, and although we cannot find a full list of the winners currently posted online, we do know that Jake Vaadeland took home six awards including the National/International Achievement Award, and Swift Current Online reported: Kurtis Kopp received Drummer of the Year and the Humanitarian Award; Evan Baxter won Emerging Artist of the Year; Luke Hunter won Bass Player of the Year; and Skullcreek Studios won Recording Studio of the Year. Republic Live and OEG Sports & Entertainment announced they are bringing the Boots and Hearts Festival to Edmonton on August 28 and 29, 2026 in Fan Park @ ICE District. Two American headliners were named as part of the announcement, and tickets are on sale now.
On December 5 Québec-born Matt Lang released All Night Even Longer, a deluxe EP edition of his 2024 album All Night Longer. He has several tour dates booked across Quebec well into the new year before hitting Cavendish Beach Music Festival in July.
Arts for Laughs, a daytime event blending visual artistry with stand-up comedy, will take place December 12 in Montreal. Panelists will include Dr Kristine Dizon, Sara Meleika, Guled Abdi, and Tyler Lemco with performances by Steve P. Adams, Jonathan Burrello, Miguel McKenna, Erik Intrevado, Aloe Azimov, Mary D. Nomo, Guled Abdi, and Sara Meleika.

Toronto born comic Zoe Brownstone released her sophomore comedy album Pride and Premises on October 22.
Comedian, and Parton and Pearl contributor, Justin Shaw has been named the new Artistic Director of Storytelling Toronto.
Faraz Niafattah released his debut comedy album Persian Baguette with Comedy Records on November 27.
On December 10 Tamizdat and CoveyLaw will host their third Office Hours Session discussing current topics and trends around the EB-1 green card for artists/creatives/entertainers.
