Fringe Collective Digital Program Revealed!

Today the Toronto Fringe released the listing details and digital program for The Fringe Collective including works by Aliya Kanani, Wendy Belcourt, and Sandcastle Theatre. Each company in The Fringe Collective were scheduled for the 2020 Toronto Fringe Festival but after a COVID cancellation this new profit-share, opt-in platform was born.

The Fringe Collective, running online July 1 - 12, 2020, features pre-recorded video, audio and written content. All content is divided into 4 Acts, with each Act lasting for 72 hours. The full details on how to watch is available here.

ACT 1, July 1 - 3

ON THE FUNNY SIDE
Aliya Kanani is an internationally touring standup comedian, known for her playful and mischievous personality. From stages around the world, to online shows from her bedroom, Aliya is ready to keep the laughter going!

COVEN: THE CALL: A BURLESQUE MYSTERY PREQUEL
It's time to call the Coven together to save the world! The hitch? The message can only be sent to one witch at a time and will self-destruct after viewing. Will the message get to the whole coven intact? ...Doubtful.

THINGS DEAD PEOPLE SAY
Are we really dead when we die? How hard can it be to tune in to the 'other side'? In Things Dead People Say, Mag Ruffman takes us on a quirky metaphysical adventure exploring how to talk to dead people, even if you don't know what you're doing

WHOSE VAGINA IS IT, REALLY?
A single girl's struggle to find her Mr. Right is often a daunting task! Karlene and her church-going sisters discover that they've all being duped by the hot, bow-legged pastor, Danny. "Revenge is a dish best served cold," they say. Or better yet, best served by 5 scorned, bible-thumping, sexually deprived, holier-than-thou church ladies!

WHO KILLED GERTRUDE CRUMP?
A one-woman, haunted house, murder mystery radio show, as told from the afterlife by Agatha Christie. The audience must answer one simple question, "who killed Gertrude Crump?"

COMEDY EXPRESS - LIVE AT THE COMEDY NEST
A stand up comic battles her inner voice and prays for guidance to the Comedy God as she tries to entertain in the new normal, post COVID-19.

THEA’S ZOOM ADVENTURE
Deaf Spirit Theatre is presenting Thea’s Zoom Adventure. This show combines comedy, signed music, puppetry, ASL storytelling, and ASL poetry to create a delight for all ages! There will be voice overs and captions in English.

MOTHER OF THE YEAR: A PANDEMIC PREVIEW!
Join Christina in quarantine as she sings a few songs about parenting in pre-COVID Beforetimes.

MY LIFE OVER THE YEARS STANDUP COMEDY SHOW
Wendy Belcourt will be doing a standup comedy styles video piece about her life. 

ROOMMATES: PREVIEW
They were the best roommates ever...until they had to live together. While they initially thought quarantine would be a fun "staycation," Teresa and Malika quickly discover how irritating the sound of the other person's chewing can be. Burst pipelines, long hours at work, and unaffordable housing. Sound familiar? Cheap Beer at the End of the World is the bleakly comic story of three workers and the homeless sex worker that challenges their status quo. Life sucks, but the beer's only a buck!

COMEDY EXPRESS - REVEREND BETTY HYNN
Televangelist Reverend Betty Hynn does whatever it takes to suck money out of her faithful believers.

DAY 55
She's on Day 55 and starting to lose it. The world has stopped and everyone's been impacted - countries, crayfish, even clowns! These days, it's extra important to find purpose and practice self-care. But how does one manage? Write a to-do list!? Do something you love!? Unprecedented times call for...unprecedented measures.
